The constraint

Build a festival for twelve thousand people, then prove the forest never noticed.

The permit was conditional on a before-and-after survey of the whole site. Anything we drove, dug or fixed had to be restored to a measured baseline, which changed how we designed every single structure.

What they asked for

Four stages in a protected clearing, a full production build — and a post-event survey that must come back within tolerance on every measured point.

What we proposed

No ground anchors, anywhere.

All four stages sit on ballasted base plates, the entire power network is suspended or laid in removable trays, and vehicles never leave the existing tracks.

Two nights

A festival the forest could forget

The floating stage
The second stage sits on a ballasted platform 60 centimetres off the ground, leaving the undergrowth beneath it untouched.
Suspended power
Not one cable touches the forest floor. Every run is either overhead or in a removable tray on the existing tracks.
Lights out
At 02:00 the site went fully dark in ninety seconds — a permit condition, rehearsed like a show cue.
